General board expectations include participation in annual planning meeting, monthly board calls or meetings over lunch, event planning, and event participation as often as once per month.
POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
President
Presides over board meetings and membership meeting, Presides over board orientation and annual planning meeting, Delegates and coordinates all committees, Monitors chapter progress and performance, Prepares Chapter’s Annual Report, Acts as ex-officio to all committees, Responsible for Bylaws and compliance
Secretary
Records meeting minutes, Sends follow up emails after membership events, Prepares and facilitates correspondence, Collects speaker bio, presentation, handouts, and takes notes during session, Monitors and responds to email account, Sends and tracks meeting invitations
Treasurer
Facilitates annual budgetary planning, Monthly financial reporting to board, Creates quarterly budget variance report and presents to board, Monitors and maintains all accounts, Delivers scholarship payments, Pays vendors
Vice President/President-Elect
Collaborates in close liaison with the President, In the President’s absence, serves as the President and presides over Board Meetings, Assists with President in their duties as deemed necessary and as gaps arise, Succeeds to the Presidency after the President’s two-year term of office
Communications Director
Maintains all chapter social media accounts, Creates event invitations and promotions, Writes monthly newsletter, Designs marketing campaigns, and Maintains website
Business Development Director
Designs, implements, and directs business development plan, Promotes sponsorship and event attendance by developing relationships with local businesses, colleges, and speakers (typically done through calls, emails, and meet & greets), Supports chapter as gaps and need arises
General Board Member
Participates in AFWA Board Meetings, Partakes in event planning and attends AFWA events, Collaborates with Board on chapter decisions and strategies, Supports chapter as gaps and need arises
